Now the footpaths compete with the wide highway for prominence. The amount of foot traffic and large pedestrian culture are impossible to ignore. It's hard to predict what direction this current conflict in personal transportation will head on Buford and other similar landscapes predicated upon car-culture. While proponents of funding pedestrian bridges and (gasp!) sidewalks, such as Senator Cynthia McKinney and P.E.D.S. continue to press forward against apathy and asvalt interests, most of the population of Buford Highway will continue to improvise their own systems of getting around.
